Who was Winslow Homer?

Winslow Homer (1836–1910) was a leading American painter best known for his powerful seascapes and depictions of post-Civil War life.  Unlike many of his contemporaries, Homer was largely self-taught as a painter, building his reputation through scenes of rural America and everyday life. Over a career spanning five decades, his work evolved from narrative realism to emotionally charged compositions that emphasised humanity’s fragile relationship with nature. Today, Homer is regarded as one of the most important figures in 19th-century American art.

Crafted from solid, hand-stained wood and delivered ready to hang, our box framed prints measure 20mm on the front face, with a 33mm depth from the wall for a clean, contemporary shadow-line look. A specialist wax finish brings out the natural grain and warmth of the wood.
