Kurt Schwitters
1887-1948 | German
A German artist, poet, and designer, Kurt Schwitters was a key figure in the Dada and Constructivist movements, best known for his innovative collage works known as Merz. Using discarded materials such as paper, wood, and metal, he transformed everyday objects into dynamic compositions that blurred the boundaries between art and life. Schwitters also experimented with typography, sound poetry, and installation art, anticipating many ideas of contemporary art. His radical creativity and humor made him one of the most influential artists of the European avant-garde.
