Who was Félix Vallotton?

Félix Vallotton (1865–1925) was a Swiss-French painter and printmaker associated with the Nabis group and Post-Impressionism. Known especially for his striking black-and-white woodcuts and psychologically charged paintings, he developed a distinctive style marked by flat areas of colour, sharp contours, and quietly tense domestic scenes. His work bridges Symbolism and early modernism, and he is considered one of the most original graphic artists of the late nineteenth century.
