Who was Johann Daniel Meyer?

Johann Daniel Meyer (active late 17th–early 18th century) was a German engraver and printmaker. Meyer produced finely detailed engravings that translated artists’ drawings into reproducible plates for books. Although less well documented than some of his contemporaries, Meyer represents the skilled craftspeople whose work supported the development of natural history and scientific illustration in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries.
