Who was Alfons Mucha?
Alfons Mucha (1860β1939) was a Czech artist and designer best known for his distinctive Art Nouveau posters and illustrations. Muchaβs flowing lines and elegant figures helped define the Art Nouveau style and made him one of the most recognisable artists of the period. After the German occupation of Czechoslovakia in 1939, Mucha was briefly arrested and questioned by the Gestapo. His health declined soon afterwards, and he died in Prague later that year.
